On the 20th of July 2023, the African Storyteller, in partnership with the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI), hosted a business breakfast featuring the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Paul Mashatile. The event brought together forty top European investors from various corporate sectors operating in South Africa.
Themed “Together Rebuilding a Conducive Environment for Businesses to Thrive,” the breakfast aimed to strengthen relationships between major businesses and the government. Attendees included CEOs from Belgian, Dutch, French, German, Irish, Italian, Nordic, Portuguese, and Swiss companies with operations in South Africa.
European investments account for 25% of South Africa’s GDP and 75% of its foreign direct investment. The discussion focused on supporting the government’s economic recovery efforts following the COVID-19 pandemic and addressing challenges such as the inconsistent power supply.
